Handmade Baby Blankets – Cree Textile Art
These handmade baby blankets are created by Cree artisan Sandra Mainscum of Waswanipi, Eeyou Istchee. Each blanket reflects a deep connection to the land through animal imagery, natural colour palettes, and careful hand-finishing.
Soft, generously sized, and thoughtfully constructed, these blankets are ideal for tummy time, stroller outings, crib naps, or as meaningful keepsakes. Hand-tied stitching throughout celebrates traditional textile practices and ensures every piece is truly one of a kind.
Pattern / Design Options Square Path (Blue / Grey)A geometric, concentric square design symbolizing balance, direction, and continuity. Soft blue and grey tones are layered with delicate floral accents and subtle red hand-tied stitching that adds warmth and movement. Finished with a coordinating solid red backing.
Bunny & Fox Patchwork (Pink / Green)A gentle patchwork featuring soft pink squares paired with woodland bear imagery. The repeating grid creates comfort and rhythm, while the green backing evokes forest landscapes and protection.
Bear Patchwork (Purple / Woodland)A vibrant checkerboard layout combining rich purple squares with woodland bear imagery. Hand-tied stitching throughout adds texture and movement, while the solid purple backing creates a bold, cohesive finish.
Butterfly Patchwork (Pink / Green)A soft, balanced patchwork featuring alternating pink squares and delicate green meadow-style prints, framed with a fresh green border. The coordinating green patterned backing completes the woodland-inspired design.
