Collectible, French Brutalist Lava Glaze Vase, Puy Mary, 1970s.
Striking vintage French brutalist art pottery vase featuring an exceptional black and white volcanic “lava glaze” finish with dramatic cratered texture throughout.
Attributed to Puy Mary, this sculptural handled vase reflects the highly collectible Fat Lava aesthetic popular during the 1960s–1970s. The elongated neck, asymmetrical integrated handle, and heavily textured glaze create a bold architectural presence ideal for brutalist, mid-century modern, wabi-sabi, or organic modern interiors.
The underside bears the handwritten “PUY MARY” mark along with model number “1787M.”
An eye-catching collector piece with strong sculptural form and authentic vintage character.
Condition:
Very good vintage condition. No visible cracks, chips, or repairs. Minor wear to underside consistent with age and display. Glaze bubbling and surface irregularities are original to production and part of the intended volcanic finish.
